Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman to PCDO: "Resist, Insist, and Persist"

Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman was unanimously endorsed  by acclamation at our February meeting. Senator Menendez received 71% of the vote, earning him the club's endorsement as well.  Bonnie updated the membership on her commitment to "resist, insist, and persist," and to work for "24 or more" to turn the House blue.  She emphasized holding the President accountable for his executive actions undermining consumer and environmental protections, his refusal to enforce sanctions against Russia, and his attack on civil rights, as well as a return to a regime of privatized prisons.

LALDEF Executive Director Adriana Abizadeh provided an overview of the struggles facing our immigrant neighbors and the status of DACA legislation. She encouraged us to work hard to elect Democrats in the fall and to continue lobbying congress to act on DACA. A key takeaway from Adriana: While voter registration matters, what matters more is actually getting folks to the polls so that they can cast their votes.
